How are People Portrayed by Different Media?
Discuss how information may be portrayed differently through various forms of media.
OBJECTIVE
Students will:
- Use multiple print and online sources to research a person depicted in The Path to 9/11 (i.e. Osama bin Laden, President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton) who has been covered by the media and gather background information about their role in a historical event, their character, accomplishments, philosophies, political views, affiliations, and ideologies.
- Write an analysis of their findings.

DIRECTIONS
- Discuss how information may be portrayed differently through various forms of visual and print media.
- Have students select a significant figure discussed in The Path to 9/11(i.e. Osama bin Laden, President George W. Bush, Richard Clarke) and compare the portrayal of the individual against descriptions in other sources, such as print media and online resources. Following the objective above, have students gather background information about this individual’s role in an historical event, their character, accomplishments, philosophies, political views, affiliations, and ideologies.
