Biography

Age 14, New Hampshire

Favorite Subject: I enjoy everything, but I especially love reading, writing, and science. I also love French.

Favorite Book: Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata

Favorite Music: Anything but country music

Elizabeth is a reporter not only for Scholastic but also her school newspaper. She has a multitude of talents and interests. Science is just one of her favorite subjects. She also loves reading, writing, and French.

Not just interested in intellectual subjects, Elizabeth is also a ballet dancer, utilizing that skill as well as her singing voice to act in musical theater. In her Kid Reporter application last year, she listed acting as a possible career choice. But after just completing a year on the campaign trail, she may be leaning more toward journalism.

Not content to remain solely in the arts, Elizabeth also swims and competed at the National Junior Olympics Cross-Country Championships.

Elizabeth had the opportunity to interview a pre-presidential Barack Obama about national issues. She asked, “What advice do you have for toughies like me to make a difference in the world?” Obama told her individuals have a responsibility to work on the issues most important to them.

A prolific writer, Elizabeth caters to a multitude of genres, including short stories, book reviews, poetry, and her own personal journal.  She is excited to be a Kid Reporter, a role that allows her to investigate national issues such as “education, healthcare, and the war in Iraq.”

To relax, Elizabeth hangs out with her “sandwich sisters” (Elizabeth is a middle child) and enjoys stamping, scrapbooking and card-making. Her older sister, Alexandra, covered the 2004 election for Scholastic News. Her younger sister, Chloe, is also a current Scholastic Kid Reporter.
