Dian Curtis Regan

Biography

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dian Curtis Regan has always been a writer. She began with poems for family and friends, and went on to write skits for high school pep rallies and a full-length play that was produced at a local church. Though Regan initially thought of writing as a hobby, a visit to a writers conference changed her mind. Determined to “learn her craft,” Regan enrolled at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she graduated with honors.

After teaching elementary school in Denver for two years, Regan took a year off to write — and never went back. She is now the author of more than 40 books for young readers, ranging from picture books to young adult novels and including the immensely popular Princess Nevermore. The flexibility of her job has allowed her to move, first from Denver to Amarillo, Texas, from there to Edmond, Oklahoma, and from there to Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, where she now lives with her aging Texas cat, Poco. A fan of walruses, she has walrus references in almost every one of her books, and more than 90 in her office.
