They Want Your Students
One part of No Child Left Behind’s reauthorization that’s sure to get attention on Capitol Hill this spring is Section 9528, which requires high schools to give military recruiters access to students’ information or risk losing federal grant money. In the meantime, some districts have reacted to local political pressure from parent-teacher and peace activist organizations by removing support for JROTC programs and highlighting the ability of students and their parents to opt out of any military recruitment activities.
