I enjoy many different types of books. Here are some of my favorites:

BOOKS

Chicken Soup (series)
By Jack Canfield (and others)
The Chicken Soup series is good because its stories are about many different subjects. Each story has advice from people your age who have gone through the same kinds of situations or problems you may be facing in your own life. Some of my favorite Chicken Soup books are Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, Chicken Soup for the Preteen’s Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. We own 10 Chicken Soup books.

Harry Potter (series)
By J.K. Rowling
The Harry Potter series is good because it is full of surprises. You can never quite predict the endings of these books. There are currently six books in the series. I can't wait for the seventh—and last—one to come out!

A Series of Unfortunate Events (series)
By Lemony Snicket
The Unfortunate Events series is good because it is about three siblings who go through hard times together. They grow closer and learn not to take anything for granted. Lemony Snicket uses creative writing to keep the reader interested in the series. The 13th and final book one came out in October—on Friday the 13th!

AUTHORS

Margaret Peterson Haddix
Margaret Peterson Haddix is a very creative author who tends to avoid the more obvious resolutions in her books. You can never guess what will happen. She is the author of The House on the Gulf, Escape from Memory, Takeoffs and Landings, Double Identity, and the Shadow Children series. In the Shadow Children series, families can only have two children. Shadow children are illegal children. The books deal with how they feel and what they do about it.

Lurlene McDaniel
Lurlene McDaniel is an author who writes about children overcoming disease. She also writes about teenagers trying to make a difference.  She wrote Angels in Pink and Angel of Mercy, to name just a couple.
