The Magic of The Thief Lord

One of the best books I have ever read is The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. It is an enchanting book about two brothers who take a magical journey that changes their lives.

After the brothers escape from a mean aunt and uncle, they must fend for themselves in Venice, Italy. While they look for shelter and food they meet a boy known as the Thief Lord. He runs a group of street children who regularly cause trouble.

Reading books like this inspire me to continue reading. I enjoy reading because of the places and people described in books. New worlds open up when you read a good book, whether it’s in a small town or a mystical, faraway place.

I usually read at night when everything is quiet or when I am by myself. My favorite spot to read is my bed because I find it more relaxing than anywhere else. I can also control my surroundings while I’m reading. I can add more light or turn on some music.

I think reading is very important. It is one way people can communicate and it keeps us up to date. There is also so much we can learn about the past or the present, or maybe even the future. We read about our culture today and yesterday.

We can also read about other cultures. Through books, people remember past events. Through diaries, calendars, and documents, we now know what people were like long ago.

The Thief Lord, like many other books, has changed the way I read, and I hope it does this for other readers too.
