I've read many books, but my favorite book is Neela: Victory Song by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.

The story is about a young woman named Neela who lives in India in 1939. During this period of time, India was fighting for independence from Britain.

In the book, Neela faces troubles within herself, her country, and her family. Her father goes to Britain to help fight for independence. He tells her that he'll be home soon. After a while, her father stops sending mail. She has no way to contact him and doesn't know if he'll ever come back.

I enjoyed this book because it tells the history of India and what life was like in 1939. It also shows how girls my age lived during that time, and what they had to go through.

This is my favorite book, which I read over to myself every day.
