Ever since I was able to read, I have been interested in mystery stories. Although other genres fascinated me, too, mysteries were always my number one favorite. I even have dreams of the books I’ve read! The thrill and excitement of a mystery always pushes me to read.
As a little kid I would enjoy reading the same mystery picture book for the whole day. I guess you could say that I was born with a love for mysteries.
I’ve loved the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series since I was in elementary school. There isn’t one book that I haven’t read from either series.
Growing up I was crazy about Sherlock Holmes and books by Louis Duncan. Now I spend all day reading Agatha Christie.
Whenever I read a book, I love to guess what’s going to happen next. With mysteries you never know what the writer is going to throw in the story, so it’s always exciting!
Reading is important for everybody in the world. (I live in Japan.) There is so much we can achieve with our abilities to read and to write.
A book influences your vocabulary and definitely makes you more intelligent. If you’re able to read, that’s a true gift that more than 862 million adults worldwide are not blessed with.
So go ahead and read an interesting book! And be glad that you can.
