How to Join the Scholastic Kids Press Corps
For the 2008-2009 School Year
Members of the Scholastic Kids Press Corps cover news stories around the nation for Scholastic News Online and Scholastic's classroom magazines. About 25 new press corps members will be chosen for the 2008–2009 school year.
The program is open to all students ages 10 to 14 who read Scholastic News Grades 4–6, Junior Scholastic, and other Scholastic classroom magazines. Kid Reporters are chosen based on the quality of submitted writing samples and expressed enthusiasm for the job.
To apply, send all three of the following:
* a one-page letter explaining why you want to be a Kids Press Corps reporter and why you would be good at the job. Be sure to include your name, address, city, state, zip code, and phone number on the letter.
* a 400-word article about what makes your community special. The article must include at least two quotes from interviews.
* a recent photograph of yourself
