Pittsburgh Public Schools contracted with Nashville-based Community Education Partners (CEP) to open a special school for under-performing and disruptive students in grades 6–12. CEP designs programs to get the students on track with district behavioral and academic expectations. The five-year contract is worth $12,480 per student in the first year and is expected to enroll 432, equaling about $5.3 million for the 2007–2008 year.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools, with 1.5 million users, has deployed the Microsoft Learning Gateway portal solution to help streamline management of the many disparate applications district-wide. The portal-based platform delivers management of online content and increased productivity by eliminating the need for paper.

The Dallas Independent School District is installing a central monitoring and control system to manage mechanical systems at more than 220 schools. TAC, a leader in building automation, security systems, and energy solutions, secured the $2.5 million design-and-build services contract to provide Dallas ISD with a web-based, district-wide monitoring and control system.
